THE COMMUNITY
Casco Viejo dates back more than 350 years. After a fiery altercation with the British pirate Henry Morgan, the town was rebuilt in 1673. In 1997 it became a UNESCO world heritage site, and many homes and mansions began to be restored to their former glory- to this day the area remains a time capsule of Colonial History. Now the vibrant old town is a colorful mix of lively plazas, flamboyant buildings and fascinating brick-paved alleyways filled with cafes, restaurants, shops and bars, art galleries and utter charm. These are some of Central America’s most desirable addresses, arguably the most valued in Panama.
